Celebrate the Ides of March with us

The program includes Haydn’s String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 55, No. 2, better known as  “The Razor,” Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110, and Cesar Franck’s String Quartet in D Major. Coming Sunday: Beethoven, Barber and Brahms

The Spokane String Quartet’s next concert will be brought to you by the letter “B” when it presents quartets by the best-known chamber music B’s of the last three centuries: Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms and Samuel Barber.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

The most familiar work on the program is the most recent. Samuel Barber’s String Quartet in B Major was the original setting for his most famous work, Adagio for Strings.  Barber’s Adagio has been played in connection with public memorials for a number of well-known people, including Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, Princess Grace and Princess Diana.

Also on the program is Beethoven’s String Quartet in D Major, Op. 18, No. 3
and Brahms’ String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 51, No. 2.

All seats are general admission. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and $12 for students. Ticket prices include a $3 theater preservation fee. Click here to purchase tickets, purchase by phone at (509) 624-1200 or (800) 325-SEAT or at the door.

What’s new? The Q!
