SSQ announces 2018-19 concert schedule

The Spokane String Quartet’s 2018-19 subscription series schedules will feature two concerts at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, two at the Bing Crosby Theater and one at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Watch for your season brochure in the mail in late July. Season tickets are now on sale and will be mailed in September. Individual-concert tickets go on sale in September.

SSQ remembers Kendall Feeney at April 22 concert

The Spokane String Quartet pays tribute to the late Kendall Feeney at its next concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the Bing Crosby Theater.

Feeney, who died in 2017, brought joy and her love for music to everything in which she participated, from the Zephyr concert series to her faculty position at Eastern Washington University to Tango Volcano.

The April 22 program includes String Quartet No. 1 by Erwin Schulhoff, String Quartet in E-flat Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and The Named Angels by Mohammed Fairouz.

Polish pianist, composers highlight Oct. 29 program

The Spokane String Quartet welcomes guest pianist Martin Labazevitch for an afternoon of Polish music at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Labazevitch has appeared on numerous concert stages and festivals in Europe, Israel, Japan, South Korea and the United States. He was born in Poland and studied in Ukraine before immigrating to the United States, where he graduated with highest honors from the Manhattan School of Music. The concert includes:

• Frederic Chopin: Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 8

• Grazyna Bacewicz: String Quartet No. 4

• Juliusz Zarebski: Piano Quintet

Season tickets are now on sale for the Spokane String Quartet’s 2017-18 season featuring three Sunday afternoon concerts at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox and two at the Bing Crosby Theater. Concert dates set for 2017-18

Spokane String Quartet concert dates have been set for the 2017-18 season. Subscription series concerts will take place Sept. 24 and Oct. 29 at the Martin Wolson Theater at The Fox, Feb. 18 and April 22, 2018, at the Bing Crosby Theater, and June 3, 2018, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. The Quartet will also be performing a free concert June 2, 2018, for the KPBX Kids Concert.
