Brahms, Mendelssohn to close season May 15 at the Bing

The Spokane String Quartet closes its 2015-16 season at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Bing Crosby Theater with violist Tim Betts and the music of Brahms, Rochberg and Mendelssohn. The program includes:
• Johannes Brahms: String Quartet No. 3 in B-Flat Major, Op. 67
• George Rochberg: String Quartet No. 6, Movement 3 (Pachelbel Variations)
• Felix Mendelssohn: String Quintet No. 1, Op. 18

Russian Extravaganza Jan. 31

Shostakovich mugThe Spokane String Quartet performs music by the Big 3 of 20th century Russian composers at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. The program includes Sergei Prokofiev’s String Quartet No. 1 in B Minor, Op. 50, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s String Quartets No. 1 and No. 2 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 1 in C Major, Op. 49.

Flute, piano and the SSQ on Nov. 15

Join us at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox when flutist Alaina Bercilla and pianist Roger McVey join the Spokane String Quartet for an afternoon of music. Concert dates set for 2015-16 season

Spokane String Quartet concerts during the 2015-16 season will take place Sept. 27, Nov. 15 and Jan. 31 at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox and March 13 and May 15 at the Bing Crosby Theater. Concerts are at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons. Look for the announcement of concert repertoire later this summer.
